Test sample for creating presets

Postby magicalex » Thu Nov 16, 2017 12:58 pm

One of the reasons I haven't delved into the various presets available online for guitarix is the wildly varying levels which exist, sometimes even within preset banks. This is perfectly understandable, as users have different setups and run their guitars in at different levels, but it can be disconcerting when changing to a new preset nearly ruptures your speakers.

As a solution, I was wondering if it would be possible to provide a test file (either within guitarix or as a separate download) which could be used as a datum, to try and balance the output levels of various presets regardless of difference in setup.

That's what the factory presets been mean for.
Adjust your input level so that factory presets just didn't clip in the output, then adjust your own presets that they match this level.
Unfortunately most presets on musical-artifacts.com miss this step.

However, it's not so hard to adjust the levels after download to the own needs, and re-save them.
So at least I'm very happy with the presets sharing on musical-artifacts.com.

Fair enough. I'll give that a go.
