GxJCM800Pre

Postby knobz » Wed Nov 02, 2016 1:36 am

I'm having problems with this plugin in Ardour 5.4. When adding more than one instance (on multiple tracks) there is a click sound, the track meters shoot up to max and stay there, and the track output goes silent.

The installed version of Guitarix is 0.35.1.

Also, the Guitarix LADSPA plugins aren't displaying gui's.

Hi knobz

Thanks for the report, yes, the GxJCM800Pre plug is a bit heavy in CPU usage, check your DSP load indicator in Ardour, possible that you've max'd out it with multiple instances of the GxJCM800Pre?

Ladspa has no GUI by spec. The gui has to come from the host (native UI). Also the Ladspa plugs been a bit outdated, you better go with the LV2 versions.

Hey brummer10, I don't know if it is a cpu issue. The cpu is an older i7. When I add an instance of Gxjcm800pre to the first track, dsp jumps from ~5% to ~20%. When adding the second instance, dsp jumps to ~25%. From this point on, Gxjcm800pre is no longer usable in the session, even if I remove the tracks and create a new track with a single instance; the track meter immediately jumps to max and the output is silenced.

The same behavior happens when using Gxjcm800preST with multiple instances.

But if I use a single instance of each - one instance of Gxjcm800pre and one instance of Gxjcm800preST - everything seems fine. I haven't tested further than this with the other Guitarix LV2 plugins.

Ahh, well, I got it. :metal2:
I guess I know now what happens, I've forgotten to convert the Gxjcm800pre plugs to the new lv2:buffersize usage in Ardour, well isn't new really any more, but, . .

Okay, so thanks for your patience, I'll commit a fix to our git repository.
I'll write a note here when done.

So okay, I've pushed a fix for this issue to our git repository.
Beside that I've give the jcm800 plugs a new GUI to cover our new design.
