I would like to create a plugin

Postby jahruhn » Sat Jan 27, 2018 11:27 pm

Hi good people of Guitarix,

I have been toying around with Faust. And I am able to create a compressor plugin, but I would like to combine a compressor with the tonestack library. The reason for this I would like to create a plug-in so I can use it inside Ardour.

Can anyone help me with this?
I can just manage to program HTML, perhaps I'm taking on too much. I do know audio routing.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Guitarix provide some tools to do that. Check out the directory trunk/tools/ampsim/DK/buildlv2/

there you'll find a script called "make_lv2_bundle.sh" which generate a LV2 bundle from your faust file.
Usage is simple, just copy your faust file into this folder and then run:

Code: Select all
./make_lv2_bundle.sh -p ./ myfaustfilename.dsp -n MyPluginName

You'll ask for some selections and the script will generate a bundle directory. cd into it and run
make && make install.
You could now use it in ardour.

As a hint, you may want to replace the background image, so, replace the pedal.png image in the bundle, with your file, and then run
Code: Select all
make resources

rebuild your plug and re-install it.
Your plugin should be ready to use now.
