building on OSX

Postby teskor » Fri Jan 05, 2018 9:38 am

Hi,

I'm trying to build guitarix-0.36.1 on OSX. I could get all needed packages to convince ./waf configure to continue and it started to look promising. I fixed a few glitches here and there but now have a problem I could not easily fix: in src/gx_head/gui/machine.cpp and probably more places it uses __gnu_cxx::stdio_filebuf, which is a gcc-specific extension, and doesn't work on clang with non-gnu libc++ .
My questions:
Did anyone here succeed building newer versions on OSX?
If not, I'd volunteer to put some work in an OSX port, if the development team is interested.
What is the reason for using stdio_filebuf at all here?
Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask, but I didn't find a developer forum or mailinglist...
Greetings,
Michael

Hi

I'm not aware of any OSX build from the latest releases.
Pretty sure there are some glitches as non of the active guitarix developers use OSX.

However, your work will be very welcome, and much appreciated.

We've a developer mailing list here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/guitar ... -developer

If you like to port guitarix to be able to build on OSX and Linux, you may subscribe there and we could talk about how we could proceed.

Most likely will be that you become a guitarix developer and take care about the requirements on OSX.
